451 Group Report - Known for security, Cloudflare is poised to redefine the corporate WAN
451 Research, part of S&P Global Market Intelligence, published a report in July 2021 headlined Known for security, Cloudflare is poised to redefine the corporate WAN.
Senior Analyst Craig Matsumoto shared, “Cloudflare One, announced in October 2020, is the blanket name for many existing Cloudflare services that combine to form this new network, which is based on cloud-native principles, security innovations such as zero trust access, and tools that can optimize internet routing.”
A notable strength of Cloudflare One is that it can be implemented fractionally, allowing customers to make progress toward implementing SASE no matter what their current setup is. Matsumoto observed, “While Cloudflare One could replace an enterprise’s SD-WAN, the company understands that some customers would prefer to use it to enhance their existing SD-WAN. Cloudflare hopes to partner with SD-WAN providers; Aruba and Silver Peak (acquired by Aruba) were the first two announced.”
